West has yet to confirm an actual release date, because there will not be one, the rapper said during a recent interview with Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club. “Release dates are played out," he said, sharing that he would follow in the footsteps of Beyonce and Drake. "So, the surprise is going to be a surprise. There goes the surprise!"

The rapper also dished some details on the sound and feel of his latest album — the follow-up to his 2013 album Yeezus — saying this record would definitely be different from his last.

“Bars, cookout music that just feels like — my last album was a protest to music," he said of Yeezus. "This album is just embracing the music, embracing joy, and being of service to the people. I just hope that people like it and enjoy it.”

So Help Me God will include "Only One," his ode to his daughter North West, written from the perspective of his late mother Donda West. He's also released two other singles from the album including "Wolves" and "All Day."

During his interview with The Breakfast Club, Kim Kardashian's husband said his work will address of the moment issues like Ferguson and police brutality.

"Yeah, my dad emailed me and said stay out of it," West noted. "Now, my dad is like a thousand percent smarter than me and a thousand times more social than me. He like literally lived at a homeless shelter and he emailed me and told me to stay out of it—that’s my only parent so I have to listen to him sometimes… I think he was just trying to be protective of his son. I can’t run in front of every bullet, you know. I just can’t run in front of every single bullet.”

As of mid-February, West's album was about "80 percent" finished. "I'm trying," he said of wrapping it up, "and get it to the people as soon as possible."
