Kanye West’s Breakfast Club Interview: 6 Gems on Amber Rose, Beck, and More

Kanye West
Kanye West stopped by The Breakfast Club on Feb. 20 and weighed in with his thoughts on Amber Rose, Beck, and more

If there's one thing we know about Kanye West, it's that he drops wisdom like Boston drops snow. The self-proclaimed creative genius recently stopped by Power 105's Breakfast Club morning show Friday to help us all better understand the world — and by the world, we mean whether posing nude for a magazine is acceptable, the power of personal hygiene, a fresh perspective on May-December relationships, and a few other gems.

1. Amber Rose wouldn't exist without him.

"She's just soaking in the moment. If Kim had dated me when I wanted, there would be no Amber Rose," he declared, referring to the crush he had on the reality star long before they got together. Good to know, Yeezy.

2. Moving on from Amber Rose required some serious cleansing.

In the next installment of the world according to Kanye, he explained the steps a man must take to move from one woman to the next. It's a type of cleansing process and it consists of taking showers. "It's very hard for a woman to wanna be with someone that's with Amber Rose," he revealed. "I had to take 30 showers before I got with Kim." We certainly hope there were more than 30 showers between Kanye splitting with Amber in 2010 and getting together with Kim in 2012.

3. He hadn't actually heard Beck's album when he rushed the stage in Beyoncé's defense.

We'll file this one as a minor oversight. "I hadn't even heard it," Kanye admitted of Beck's album when he ran onstage at the Grammys. Fortunately, that has since been rectified. "The other day I went to dinner, sat down with Taylor Swift. And, ironically, they were playing the Beck album. Maybe they did it on purpose so I could finally hear it." It turns out that hearing the album might have changed Kanye's opinion of it. "But I was listening, [and] I was like, 'Man, this is kinda good. I ain't gonna lie,'" he said. "I bet you that album is really good…Maybe it was potentially an Album of the Year." On second thought, though, that might be overkill. "[Beck] should win an award for what he did — rock album, or something like that — but he shouldn't have won that award, in my opinion."

4. An age gap in your relationship is fine, as long as you know people in relationships who have age gaps bigger than yours.

As full disclosure, part of Kanye's insistence that Amber Rose is some type of disease that needs to be cleaned off might have been fueled by the fact that she appeared on this same show last week and slammed 25-year-old Tyga for dating Kanye's 17-year-old sister-in-law, Kylie.

"I think he got in early. I think he was smart," Kanye argued in defense of the rapper. "They are closer in age than a lot of relationships that I know." Something tells us that's probably true. "I knew Tyga was smart" he restated. Still, he did admit that he "can't speak on nobody's relationship." Really? Of all the things Kanye feels entitled to share his opinion about… this is the thing he thinks he needs to keep to himself? (Though it's worth noting he did just speak about their relationship.)

5. It's okay to be naked on a magazine cover.

Kanye has absolutely no problem with his baby mama (okay, fine… wife) flashing her bare derriere to the entire planet. "She can get naked if she wants to," he explained, citing the fact that it's not "illegal." We can't help but note that it's also not illegal to make a huge a–hole out of yourself at every awards show you attend. This explains so much.

6. Beyoncé admires Kim Kardashian.

"They love each other. They respect each other," Kanye shared. "When Beyoncé is working on an album, she has like pictures of Kim on the wall because Kim represents powerful women." And that admiration goes both ways. "Kim be playing '7/11,' playing that video, playing it for our daughter. They definitely respect each other," he mused. Despite his insistence otherwise, however, we are still going to imagine Beyoncé's trailer covered in pictures of Beyoncé. The world just doesn't make sense otherwise.
