Kate Gosselin tearfully told the Today Show's Meredith Vieira Monday morning that her estranged husband, Jon, has left her and his eight kids without enough money to pay the bills.
"He took $230,000 of the $231,000 [in their shared banking account], and I have a stack of bills in my purse that I can't drop in the mail," said Kate, 34.

"When you've left your children and their mother unable to pay for the roof over their head, it's not acceptable," continued Kate.
Kate said she never imagined herself unable to afford her children and $1.1 million Pennsylvania home after taping her TLC reality show for so many seasons. The couple make an estimated $75,000 per episode.
"We were in the position after our sextuplets were born that we could not pay our bills." she explained. "We did the show to provide a better life for them. Never did I think I'd be back in the same position.

"I can't sleep at night. I can't pay my bills," Kate went on. "I think he's receiving bad counsel. He's always been one to listen to the one next to him."
The mother of eight said this isn't the first time Jon, 32, has emptied funds from a joint account. Several days before she filed for divorce in June and the couple met with an arbitrator, Kate moved $100,000 into her account because she says she was afraid she wouldn't be able to afford food.
But on the advice of their arbitrator, she reluctantly put the money back into their shared account.
She says she spent $50,000 on bills, and Jon blew the cash on "erratic purchases [and by] randomly buying things."
Kate also slams claims by Jon that taping the newly renamed Kate Plus 8 "hurts the kids."
Said Kate:"I told the kids over the weekend that we weren't filming. Times eight, there was wailing and sobbing. They love the crew, they love the interaction, they love the events. It is not harmful to them. They are angry."

Kate laments that Jon's become a different person.
"I'm still hoping at some point I'll receive a phone call, and the old Jon is back," she said.

This is so much like my own divorce it's scary. Even my kids see that. Jon is manipulating everyone. Kate has no reason to try to make him look bad, he's done that on his own already. My ex says the same thing, and it's truly not in my heart to hurt him. I see the same pain in her eyes that I felt when this happened to me. Everyone told me at the time to bury the jerk, and I didn't listen, I thought I should give him a chance bla bla bla. Should have buried him under heavy child support and limited visitation. He does nothing for them, He makes my children miserable to this day, six years later. If Jon isn't making the children a priority right now then he never will, it was because of Kate that they were a priority all along. Take my word for it.

I think Jon is a jerk. My husband left me with 2 small children for another woman. He took what money my dad left for me in a trust fund. Jon has so much to b grateful for. 'what is "his" money'? I see Kate and the children doing the work. He should want his 'children' provided 4, not the child he is sleeping with. Now when I see him on a show, I change the channel. I think TLC is doing the right thing by taking Jon the Jerk off TV. SHAME ON U, JON! (I know Kate has acted terribly to him on past shows, but that doesn't give Jon the right to treat his children so badly. He's the adult-or suppose to be! AGAIN==SHAME ON U JON!

Kate use her kids to get money from the beginning of the show. She is the one pushing the show and she is the one who bought the big house. WHATEVER...
They both are money hungry selfish people, hair implants, boob jobs, tanning , earrings, these are not things real parents would do or want, let the Gosslin saga end, please..Both of you grow up and get real jobs like the rest of the mothers and fathers of the world quit looking for a hand out.

Kate knew what she was doing when she PLOTTED to have these children. She needs to stop depending on others to support the decision she made. She is MILKING those children for all they're worth just to live like a celebrity. There are millions of single moms WHO GO OUT AND WORK AND CARE FOR THEIR KIDS. They are not crying on tv or expecting freebies for their mistakes. Clearly, Kate's decision to have eight children was a BIG MISTAKE. HUGE! It is Kate and Jon's responsibility to care for the children not that of the rest of the world. How many other parents with eight children are in the spa, salon, and shopping everyday. She talks about Jon's spending. Anyone with a half of brain can see right through her scheme. She wants America to start the donations. I feel sorry for those you believe her.
Maybe Jon did take the money, maybe he didn't. I buy everything organic (boo hoo), I can't pay my bills (boo hoo), It's hard to write more books and go on tours while someone else takes care of the kids in the million dollar home (boo hoo sob-sob). TLC will take care of them, regardless as long as Kate is the money grubber she always was/is/will always be. Get the kids off of TV and get out of the spotlight! I'm on Jon's side.

Wow, Anonymous sure is weird. I'm on the kid's side in all of this and it looked to me like the show didn't hurt them and it sure cheered me up! With so many kids, how else to make the bundle necessary for their educations and LIFE. Once Jon's testosterone quiets down, manybe he'll be able to see what's best for his children. And, if Kate doesn't want to be his "friend", that's up to her.
