This cuteness! Kate Hudson presented at the 2016 Golden Globes Sunday, January 10, alongside her mom Goldie Hawn‘s devoted partner and her father figure, Kurt Russell.
During their appearance on stage at the Beverly Hilton hotel, Hudson joked about Russell not being her biological father — though the actor raised the bubbly blonde and her brother, Oliver Hudson, since they were kids.
“Tonight the Golden Globe goes to … ,” Russell announced as Hudson, 36, held the envelope containing the name of the winner for Best Motion Picture — Animated. The actress, showcasing her slim physique and ridiculous abs in a body-baring Michael Kors gown, grinned as she attempted to open it.
Looking at Russell, the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days actress said, “I know, I know how to do it.”
The moment may have reminded viewers about Hudson’s biological father, Bill Hudson, who publicly disowned the actress and her brother after an awkward Father’s Day joke last June. The debacle began when Oliver posted a throwback photo with Bill and Kate, dubbing the holiday “Happy Abandonment Day.”
The situation turned nasty and Bill ended up telling the Daily Mail in an interview that Russell was to blame for his estrangement from his kids. “When we split up, [Hawn] never had a bad word to say about me,” Bill, 65, said of his ex-wife. “But when Kurt came on the scene, the narrative changed and I became the big, bad wolf.”
According to a source, Kate and Oliver think highly of Russell. “Kate and Oliver consider Kurt their father,” a Kate pal told Us in June. “He’s the best.”
As for their biological dad? “They don’t care and are not surprised by this,” the insider said at the time. “It’s been this way, and he’s been saying this stuff forever.”
