Meeting the in-laws can be nerve-wracking-- especially when your daughter is marrying into the royal family!

Kate Middleton's parents, Carole and Michael, joined Queen Elizabeth for an introductory lunch on Wednesday. A palace source tells Us Weekly: "Catherine's parents, Carole and Michael, had a private lunch with Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Philip at Windsor Castle today."

This was the Middletons' first time meeting the Queen, 84. The source told Us: "Neither Kate nor William were present, however, certain members of the royal household were present."

Middleton's parents came from humble beginnings: they both worked as flight attendants prior to founding Party Pieces, a mail order company that sells party supplies and decorations.
