Jake Davidson had a date with Kate Upton Wednesday morning — on the phone. After posting a viral video asking the Sports Illustrated model to prom, the Los Angeles high school senior appeared on the TODAY show March 20 and got a surprise phone call from Upton herself.
Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb got the supermodel on the line to speak directly with Davidson, 17, about his prom request. "I absolutely love the video," the Sports Illustrated cover star, 20, said of his Youtube video posted on March 16. "It was so hilarious and so creative. Thank you so much for doing that, I really appreciate it."
After becoming momentarily speechless, Davidson told Upton, "This just got so much better now that you're on the phone. I'm telling you it will be a great night, great evening –- I could even get the curfew extended hopefully by my parents maybe. We could go to a great dinner before. I hope you'd be interested if your schedule is free, and what time should I pick you up if you are interested?"
Upton had previously tweeted a reply to Davidson's prom invitation, saying, "How could I turn down that video! I'll check my schedule."
But she still wasn't ready to give him a definitive answer on whether or not she can attend the May 23, 2013 date in Los Angeles. "I definitely have to check my schedule, but you seem like so much fun and if everything works out, I'd love to go with you," Upton said. "I know we'd have a blast."
"I know we would," Davidson said. "Thank you."
