Katie Holmes Praises Fellow Supermom Angelina Jolie for Kids’ Choice Speech: “She’s an Inspiration”

Katie Holmes and Angelina Jolie
Katie Holmes couldn't say enough good things about fellow Hollywood supermom Angelina Jolie, who made a moving speech at the Kids' Choice Awards

Not even Katie Holmes can resist the power of Angelina Jolie. The Woman in Gold actress, 36, was in the audience at the Kids' Choice Awards with daughter Suri on Saturday, March 28, when Jolie took the stage to accept the orange blimp for Best Villain — and just like everyone else who watched the Maleficent star's speech, Holmes was utterly entranced.

"I'm such a fan of Angelina," the Dawson's Creek alum gushed to Entertainment Tonight at the March 30 premiere of Woman in Gold. "I think she's incredible in all aspects of her life. I think she's just an inspiration. And her speech just, you know, topped it off."

Indeed, Jolie has earned raves for her empowering speech at the Nickelodeon event, which she attended with daughters Zahara, 10, and Shiloh, 8. After giving her clearly ecstatic kids a huge hug and walking up to the podium, the Unbroken director, 39, shared some life wisdom with the crowd of teens and tweens, advising them to embrace what makes them unique.

"I want to say that when I was little, like Maleficent I was told that I was different," the mom of six began. "And I felt out of place, and too loud, too full of fire, never good at sitting still, never good at fitting in. And then one day I realized something, something I hope you all realize: Different is good."

She continued: "So, don't fit in, don't sit still, don't ever try to be less than what you are, and when someone tells you that you are different, smile and hold your head up high and be proud. And, as your villain, I would also say, cause a little trouble — it's good for you."

Jolie and Holmes didn't appear to interact at the Nick Jonas-hosted show, but they do kind of have a connection: Jolie's husband, Brad Pitt, and Holmes' ex-husband, Tom Cruise, costarred together in 1994's Interview With the Vampire.

Holmes and Cruise divorced in 2012, and — as Us Weekly exclusively reported earlier this month —she's been seeing Jamie Foxx for the last year-and-a-half, ever since he wooed her at a benefit in the Hamptons. Incidentally, the Annie star was also in attendance at Saturday's Kids' Choice Awards.
