Katy Perry‘s divorce from Russell Brand is now a part of her — and, accordingly it will be featured in her new concert tour documentary, Katy Perry: Part of Me.
The 27-year-old singer stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show Tuesday to promote the upcoming movie and confirmed that it will address the demise of her 14-month marriage.
“You got married during that time and then that didn’t turn out to last. That part of it is still in there?” Ellen DeGeneres asked Perry.
“I thought it was important to show everything in between,” Perry explained. “I think sometimes people think that we’re perfect, and we know we’re not perfect, at all.”
“I think it’s important to start breaking down the idea that to achieve your dreams, you always have to be perfect or flawless or live in some kind of fantasy world,” the singer added. She also addressed her divorce in her new song, “Wide Awake,” at the Billboard Music Awards Sunday. “So that’s why I decided to put everything into the film. In the most tasteful way. But mostly it’s about how I got there and the ride along the way, which can be bumpy. But mostly, it was extremely fun.”
Brand 36, appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last Thursday and also spoke out on his failed marriage to Perry. He filed for divorce after just 14 months of marriage on Dec. 30, but told DeGeneres he still has fond feelings for his ex.
“I still love her as a human being,” the British comic said. “But, sometimes when you’re in a relationship I suppose it doesn’t work out, does it? But that doesn’t mean I regret it or anything.”
“I was very happy to be married with her,” he continued. “She’s such a beautiful human being and I just have only love and positivity for her.”
As Us Weekly revealed Monday, Perry is now back on the market after splitting from Florence + the Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd after about a month of dating.
“It wasn’t that serious,” a source told Us Weekly. “It’s not a nasty thing and they are still talking, but Katy told him to do his thing and they’ll talk soon.”
