Just another day in the lavish, latex-covered life of Katy Perry. On Thursday, Sept. 10, the bubbly songstress casually shared a photo of herself with a black latex-covered mermaid, smoking hookah while perched poolside.
“Ayyyye pink dolphin what’s good?!” the Teenage Dream singer captioned the outrageous photo, taken by Rony Alwin, tagging Permaid, the account for the curious creature next to her. The pink dolphin Perry, 30, is referencing is a rare dolphin named Pinkie that was discovered in Louisiana just two weeks ago.
In the photo, Perry looks cool and collected in a green-and-white striped minidress as she puffs on the hookah pipe, her legs placed side-by-side to mimic Permaid’s regal pose.
Permaid (the phrase stands for Persian mermaid) is a character that appears in social media photos in different L.A. locales, always in her trademark black latex mermaid suit. The account is run by pals Nicolette Mishkan and Aeschleah DeMartino.
“We’re creating a story for her based on our friends,” Mishkan told LA Weekly about the ongoing photo project in an interview last year. “It’s about Permaid trying to fit in, learning to accept that she doesn’t belong in any circle.”
Perry is the first bold-faced name to pose alongside the faceless mermaid.
