Kellie Pickler made a pretty big sacrifice on behalf of her hubby.
In a new interview with Parade, the 25-year-old country singer reveals she was forced to "find a good home" for her cat Pickles because her husband Kyle Jacobs is "severely allergic to them."
"I still get a little teary-eyed when I think about Pickles," the American Idol alum admits, adding that she's always been a "people pleaser."
"I want everybody to be happy," Pickler tells Parade. "I want everybody to like me and I want to like everybody."

Married since January 1, 2011, the Southern star says she feels "so blessed" to be with Jacobs, 38. "I married my best friend. He is the best husband I ever had -- come to think of it, he's the only husband I've ever had!"

"But on a serious note, he's the prize," Pickler says. "I don't know why he picked me, but I'm glad he did."

Tell Us What You Think
23I always knew if a person had a cat the minute I walked into their home - clean or not! First the sneezing, then my throat would start to CLOSE UP!! I WAS on medication - 3 shots per week along with oral meds. I had to leave the house and sit in my air conditioned car or go to an air conditioned store to be able to breath again. So stop throwing stones at her, you have no idea of the severity of his allergies... and of course she knew this before they were married... she didn't "ditch the cat" on a whim. I'm sure it pained her greatly, but I would take another 27 years with my deceased husband over a pet.... of which I've had dogs I loved dearly too.
I knew very little about her until now, but I dislike her intensely with this knowledge. If he loved her, he wouldn't have asked her to give up something she supposedly cared about. In a few years he's be history and she'll have neither husband nor cat. Dumb move.
Incidentally, I too am allergic to cats.... I have one...no way would I give him up...and an allergy can be overcome if one tries, that's how I got rid of my allergy.
I think she is a prize prat....did she not know that her guy was allergic before she married him......sorry she is a twat.
I agree with you Jes. Animals ARE family, and they are our responsibility. We can, I suppose be glad that at least this lady found a good home for her cat rather than just abandoning it at some ghastly high kill shelter. Personally speaking though, my cats have provided me with loyalty, love and friendship, and I would not ever consider abandoning them for any reason whatsoever.
When this marriage crumbles in 3 years, she's going to be SERIOUSLY kicking herself in the ass. Shame on her. She doesn't deserve the love of an animal - they are FAMILY. You can't get rid of a kid because the cat doesn't like it, but you can get rid of an animal because your dumb husband won't take some allergy meds?
Everyone who is freaking out about her cat over her husband... she would have known he was allergic WHILE THEY WERE DATING... it's not like they got married and suddenly he has allergies!!! So yeah, shame on her.
I could never date anyone who is allergic to my pets because my pets are my family.
I wouldn't give up my cats or dog for ANY man...
i would choose cat over boyfriend I have had the cat for 11 yrs
Very sweet. I'm so happy for her. And will you take a look at all of the haters here who actually something mean to say about her giving up her cat? As if she should've kept the cat and dumped her husband! He was SEVERELY ALLERGIC you morons! Not saying that he didn't LIKE cats! All of you can now go back to sitting and eating your nightly pint of Haagen-Dazs, in your dirty bathrobe, while watching Lifetime.
Maybe he can't take the meds. I have a health issue that doesn't allow me to take many types of meds. I can't imagine what kind of people must be in your lives if your picking animals over them... I am an animal lover and owner, but if I ever had to pick between my husband and or child and a pet, I will ALWAYS pick my family.
Wow - so many mean things to say! Did it ever occur to any of you that maybe he can't take meds. I have a health issue that doesn't allow me to take many types of meds. And what does it say about the people you have in your life if they are not worth more than a cat or dog to you? I am an animal lover and owner, but if I had to pick between my husband and or child and a pet, my family will ALWAYS come first.
I can't believe what I'm reading!?!?! All you people would really choose your cat over your husband?! WTF? it's not like it' her boyfriend, it's her husband.I would give my cat up a second for my husband. I hope you guys live a long, lonely life with your crazy cats
Spineless women never cease to amaze me. I have three cats that I've raised since they were a minute old and I'd never give them up for some dude. Let him take some Claritin if he loves you. No man - or woman - who loves someone would ask them to give up a pet.
I would NEVER give any of my animals up for any man. Sorry, but thats how I feel. There are meds he can take for it.
I woulnd#t bash her for it. I have a cat and I have bad allergies. WHen i first got her at time I was unable to breath etc. I took medications and now I'm fine, but not everyone wants to medicate themselves day after day for a pet that's not their own, ands that they didn't choose. At least she found a good home for her cat and didn't just drop it off at the shelter.
who does that??? granted hes allergies but so what?? I would NEVER EVER give up my dogs for anyone including a man!! no way.
serious self esteem issues..."I want everybody to be happy...to like me...people pleaser...why he picked me..." I feel sorry for her...
I have severe asthma and allergies and I have 2 cats and a dog (all 3 shed like crazy!) I keep them groomed and brushed too keep the hair and pet dander under control. I have the occasional reaction/ attack but with my meds and proper pet care myself and my husband are able too keep me healthy and still have our pets which we adore (besides, they keep me and the kids company when the hubby is deployed!) Now on the other hand, My bro in law is so allergic to pet dander that he literally goes into anaphylactic shock due to the severity of his allergies (and I have seen it happen, its not pretty) So idk if his allergies are as bad as this, if so then yes the home would need to be rid of the animal and a deep cleaning too be completly rid of the dander, unfortunatly this is a sad situation whatever his medical reasons are.
