Kelly Clarkson wants to give her daughter River Rose a sibling, but that doesn’t mean she’ll schedule sexy times to make it happen! The “Stronger” singer, 32, opened up about her marriage to Brandon Blackstock while gracing the pages of Redbook magazine’s latest issue with the couple’s adorable baby girl.
“I always swore ours would not be a relationship where we have to schedule sex. That is never going to happen,” she said, matter-of-factly. “We put each other first. I call it the oxygen-mask mentality—take care of yourself first!”
The American Idol season 1 winner wed Blackstock, 38, in October 2013, and welcomed River in June 2014. Clarkson often gushes about her man in interviews, but surprisingly admitted that she doesn’t consider him her “other half. “
“Goodness, no! Brandon is not my other half. He’s a whole and I’m a whole,” the “Miss Independent” singer told the mag. “I’ve never believed in someone taking care of me, and that’s probably because I grew up poor and without a lot of family stability.”
Clarkson, however, has received a lot of support. The entertainer has been criticized for her weight throughout her career, and was more recently attacked for her curvy post-baby body by British personality Katie Hopkins, Fox anchor Chris Wallace, and political commentator Mike Gallagher.
“There are just some people who are born skinny and with a great metabolism – that is not me. I wish I had a better metabolism,” Clarkson told Redbook, while looking healthy and happy in an Alice + Olivia red dress for its photo shoot. “But someone else probably wishes they could walk into a room and make friends with everyone like I can. You always want what someone else has.”
She added: “I don’t obsess about my weight, which is probably one of the reasons why other people have such a problem with it.”
