Kelly Osbourne is mourning the loss of her pet Pomeranian, Noodles.

"My poor baby girl Noodles is sick," the Dancing With the Stars alum tweeted Tuesday. "She had a seizure and they don't know why. I'm taking her to see a specialist two hours away for a brain scan."

Osbourne, who adopted Noodles in March, nicknamed the pooch "Noody Bear." Three months later, the puppy's health took a turn for the worse. "I can't even look at my baby girl without crying," Osbourne tweeted. "She just looks so sick and helpless."

A veterinarian performed a brain scan and delivered some bad news: Noodles was suffering from brain swelling.

"Noodles is not going to make it," Osbourne, 26, wrote. "She was born with a brain defect and I have to put her to sleep today. I'm devastated. I just can't believe it."

When one of Osbourne's followers criticized her for putting down her puppy, she defended her decision by saying: "She was not in peace. Her brain was swelling in her head. I don't play God! It was unfortunately necessary!"

I am sorry for your loss, kelly. Pets are just like children to many people and those who criticize you are just ignorant. Why make an animal suffer when there is no hope for recovery

I'm very sorry for Your loss:( My Mother had a mini schnauzer named Katie, and when She had to be put to sleep, my Mom was very sad. We cheered Her up, though. Peace:)

Kelly made the RIGHT decision so that the dog WOULD NO LONGER BE SUFFERING!! We had to put my childhood dog to sleep after we found out the cancer was not treatable.. We did NOT want our precious baby to suffer any more than she had already. My mom had her cremated and to this day still has her ashes in an urn. We have had our oldest Pit Bull since our middle child was born and the dog is now 12 yrs old. She is starting to have arthritis and other health issues so we are preparing our children for her loss bc we know that it will not be to far off that she will be suffering and we will do whatever we can to help her until it gets to severe and she needs to be put to sleep. We should NOT force our animals to suffer just bc we love them to much to let go of them. THAT IS A CRUEL THING TO DO! Would you make your family member suffer when there was ZERO way they could ever recover? I have 4 Pit Bulls and 3 of them are young (2 are 2 year old sisters and 1 is a 1.5 yr old male than there is our 12 yr old female) so we have MANY more years to share with them but our oldest baby does not have that many years left. It is a very painful time when you lose a pet for ANY reason especially when you treat that animal like he/she is a member of your family like we do with our dogs. My husband and I call our dogs our 4-legged children and they are spoiled and loved almost as much as our actual children.

good for kelly. sometimes the hard thing is the best thing. poor noodles.

Kudos to Kelly for putting Noodles first. There was no need for the little pup to suffer so Kelly could hold on to her for a bit longer. Kelly made a selfless decision and while it won't help her right now: she was a good Mommy to Noodles. She needs to have a good cry and let her feelings surface. Then she can begin to heal.

I've been in a similar situation. As hard as it was to do, you did the right thing. Some keep their animals, who are of course deeply loved, alive longer than maybe they should to avoid the pain of loss. You do what you can, but when they told me that my cat Max could be kept alive a bit longer but would be in pain...no way. It was a hard decision but releasing an animal from it's pain is the humane thing to do. A true act of love. I hope you find peace.

Awwww, that's sad! People who criticized her on twitter are just cruel, brain swelling is very serious. Poor pupster :-(

  • June 16, 2011 - 1:06pm Denise Bullard

It is hard when your pet is like a child. The poor dog should not have to suffer

  • June 16, 2011 - 1:03pm Samantha Evans

Aww thats so sad. Those people who were critsiizing her are idiots. Sometimes its for the better, what do they want, the poor little thing so suffer until it just dies. Its not like it was just some stupid reason the dog had swelling in the brain

  • June 16, 2011 - 1:03pm Halli Wilkenson

I have 2 Poms. Thankfully, both are healthy. I have had to let go of several of my dogs in the past. It's so very hard. I know what Kelly is feeling.
