Kenny Chesney: I "Panicked" After Wedding Renee Zellweger

On Friday's Oprah Winfrey Show, Kenny Chesney opened up about his quickie marriage to Renee Zellweger.
After just four months of dating, the two shocked fans when they wed in May 2005 in a barefoot-on-the-beach wedding at Chesney's cliffside estate in St. John. Four months later, Zellweger filed for an annulment, citing "fraud."

"I panicked," Chesney, 42, told Winfrey. "...I look at my life as a box. ... So everything that I put in -- learn how to play guitar, put that in the box. The friends I made. I put that in the box, and my career grew. Everything around me—all of the awards and all of the songs I wrote and all the success and everything -- I put in that box. That box built grew into this wonderful house. Okay? And you protect everything and all the relationships and all the people that helped you build that house. And this is the first time I've actually talked about it, but that's what happened. I protected that box."

Asked whether their marriage was in or out of the box, Chesney replied, "It was out of the box. Oh my God, but it's tough. It really is tough. And she's a sweet soul, no doubt about it, but I just wasn't ready."

Chesney -- whose new concert film Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D hits theaters Apr. 21 -- is currently dating Nashville nurse Amy Colley; Zellweger is romancing Bradley Cooper.

He wasn't ready for all the paparazzi, magazines scoping his life when he was married. At his shows there would be helicopters flying over the show, following him and his people. We all protect certain things or people in our lives. What he meant by putting all that in a box that grew into a house he had to protect not only himself everyone around him. And yes, Renee has trashed Kenny in interviews. He has never said one bad thing about the women. Because she sited fraud, that means he's gay?? What??? The gay rumors started after she claimed fraud, look up what it means in legal terms!!!! I know what the terms are, since I work in the law field. And she said nothing, except it has nothing to do with his character, which was wrong. If you don't like the man cool,it doesn't mean he's gay. He took the worst of it, she didn't. Not only did it hurt him, it hurt everyone around him. If wasn't ready, he wasn't ready!!! We all make mistakes..
They just seemed awkward with each other. Renee did an interview when they were married and she was complaining,"Here I am again on a tour bus." I guess she thought he'd stop touring so much. He seems like a workaholic. Either way, they probably wanted two different things. Maybe that's what Renee meant by fraud. If Kenny is in fact a "confirmed bachelor" then hopefully he won't hurt another woman the way he obviously hurt Renee. Anyway, he needs to stop talking about it because he's just digging himself a bigger hole.
Javah--you noticed their body language, too? In one picture I saw, she seemed to be hesitantly giving him her hand, and looking shyly down at the ground like a little girl. That was not the body language of someone who was extremely comfortable with a guy she had just married. Struck me as kind of weird. They just rushed into that marriage for no real reason.

When I saw them on their wedding day walking on the beach, the body language was so wierd that I said that something was wrong and it wouldn't last. It always seemed like she was giving more than he was.
