NBA legend Larry Bird's 21-year-old son Connor Bird is currently being charged for attempting to run over his ex-girlfriend with his car near the Indiana University campus on Sunday, Feb. 10.
Connor, who is currently a student at IU, is facing multiple preliminary charges, including intimidation with a deadly weapon, battery with injury and possession of marijuana.
"It is a private matter we are hoping to resolve as quickly as possible," his attorney, John Tompkins, said in a statement. "We are happy no one was seriously hurt."
On Sunday, Connor reportedly got into an argument with his ex-girlfriend (whose name has thus far been withheld), during which he threw a cell phone at her, police tell USA Today.
Later in the day, he reportedly brought his ex to a parking lot to talk, and when the conversation again heated up, she got out of Connor's car with the intent of walking home.
At that point, the irate college student tried to hit the woman twice with his car, police tell the paper. A witness at the scene quickly took her to the Indiana University Police Department and Connor was promptly tracked down and brought to the Monroe County jail.
He has since been released from custody.
