An American dream! Lauren Conrad, Us Weekly’s guest Entertaining Editor, taught Us Weekly Video how to make an easy blackberry cocktail for a 4th of July barbecue.
“One of the great things about a barbecue is that the menu is relatively simple,” says the author of hosting guide Celebrate. “But that doesn’t mean that you can’t have a little fun with it.”
The LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s designer, 30, suggests whipping up tequila and berry drinks in mason jars to evoke the blue in red, white and blue. “They’re going to be premade,” Conrad, wed to lawyer William Tell, explains. “You can make one large batch, fill ’em up, put a top on and you throw them all into a giant tub with ice so that your bartending is taken care of for the day!”

For simple syrup, boil 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan until the sugar dissolves, about 3 minutes. Cool. In the bottom of a mason jar, muddle 2 tablespoons blackberries. Add 1½ ounces tequila, 1½ ounces of the simple syrup and ice; stir. Top with club soda.
