Coming clean! Though fans watched Lauren Conrad’s love life play out on reality TV from 2004 to 2010 — first on MTV’s Laguna Beach followed by the highly successful spin-off The Hills — the fashion designer, 29, expressed some unexpected views on relationships in the April issue of Redbook magazine.
“[I was] never a person who was obsessed with the idea of marriage,” said Conrad, whose exes include Stephen Colletti, Jason Wahler, and Brody Jenner.
In fact, the best-selling author claims law school grad William Tell was “the first person I ever thought I could marry.”
The pair are self-proclaimed homebodies, but Conrad said marrying an attorney has its downside.
“I watch The Good Wife with him, and he’s like ‘That’s incorrect. You would actually do this…’ It’s a nightmare!” she joked.
Though the couple hasn’t openly talked about having kids, the MTV alum did note, “I definitely wouldn’t encourage my child to do reality television.”
Some of that might have to do with Conrad’s own broken friendships in her six years in front of the cameras.
“Over the last few years I’ve been able to work with several women who I really respected because they didn’t take on that role of being a bitch,” the Little Market founder said. “They were strong, but they were kind and they didn’t need to shout to be heard. A lot of women feel like they need to be tough in order to be taken seriously. We have this idea that kindness is weakness, which I don’t think is true.”
