Get your bookmarks ready! Lauren Graham stopped by the Ellen DeGeneres Show — for the second time in a week — to discuss her new book, Talking as Fast as I Can!, on Monday, May 23.
During her interview, the 49-year-old actress — who is set to reprise her role as Lorelai Gilmore on Netflix’s highly anticipated miniseries Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, due out later in 2016 — revealed that she was so interested in the show and her character that she picked up a pen and paper.
“I thought that it was so, kind of, strange and wonderful to have played this character and to get to play her again that I started writing about it,” she explained. “I have a book of essays that are hopefully humorous, coming out concurrent when the show comes out. It’s called Talking as Fast as I Can! for obvious reasons.”
Graham also revealed that Ellen DeGeneres, 58, is featured in the book “several times” and even has her own chapter.
“I talk about how incredibly supportive and great you’ve been to me, and then there’s a chapter called ‘You Can’t Be Vegan Just for Ellen’ because I’ve realized that over the years I’ve tried to be vegan but one of the real main reasons is ‘cause I wanna be more like you, which I then also realized is the premise of the stalker film Single White Female,” she joked.
DeGeneres replied, laughing, “I’m honored. I’m flattered.”
The Parenthood alum released her debut novel, Someday, Someday, Maybe: A Novel, in 2013. She is set to adapt the New York Times bestseller, which was a fictionalization of her life in New York in the ‘90s, into a TV series for the CW with DeGeneres’ production company A Very Good Production.
A release date for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life has yet to be announced.
