Linda Thompson joined Lamar Odom and others in mourning the death of Bobby Heyward, who died of an apparent overdose at age 30 on Saturday, June 20. On Monday, June 22, one day after Us Weekly confirmed news of Heyward's passing, the songwriter posted a tribute to the late writer-producer, the son of her close pal Evelyn Heyward.
"Please keep my lovely friend Evelyn Heyward in your prayers as she mourns the loss of her cherished son, Bobby, pictured here. Bobby posted this photo not long ago with the hashtag #mommasboy," Thompson, 65, wrote alongside a snapshot of the mother-son duo on Instagram.
"Any parent reading this cannot even fathom such a devastating loss," she continued. "I believe in the power of prayer…of healing thoughts & energy…So please send yours to a wonderful mother whose heart is broken today. May God bless her & the entire family. And may Bobby rest in eternal peace…"
Heyward's autopsy was completed on Tuesday, June 22, but further toxicology tests will need to be run to determine a cause of death, and will take another eight to 10 weeks, the LA County Coroners Office tells Us.
Heyward was good friends with Odom and his estranged wife Khloe Kardashian, the stepdaughter of Thompson's ex Caitlyn Jenner. He also knew the late Jamie Sangouthai, who died tragically at 37 on June 18 of necrotizing fasciitis and IV drug abuse.
In fact, Heyward's final Instagram post before his death was in Sangouthai's honor. "#RIP to my big brother Jamie who always brought light into any room he walked into and laughter as well at all times," he'd written alongside a photo of himself with Sangouthai, Odom, and another friend. "J you will always be missed. Family for life."
