Huntin’, fishin’ and lovin’ every day — that’s pretty much what Luke Bryan will be doing this summer. Us Weekly Video caught up with the country music star behind the scenes at rehearsals for the 2016 CMT Awards on Monday, June 6, and he dished on his favorite summer activities to do with his kids and double-dating with his famous pals.
The Georgia native, 39, is taking the stage to perform this year, and is nominated for several awards — including Video of the Year for “Strip It Down” and Male Video of the Year for “Kick the Dust Up.”
While he’s busy touring and recording, the “Crash My Party” singer joked that his wife and college sweetheart, Caroline Boyer, runs the show at home. “Caroline’s the head coach. I’m the sideline coach,” he quipped. The couple, who married in 2006, are parents of sons Thomas, 8, and Tatum, 5. Bryan and his wife are also raising his nephew Til Cheshire, who they took in after the sudden death of Bryan’s brother-in-law, Ben Lee Cheshire, in November 2014. Cheshire was the widow of Bryan’s sister, Kelly, who passed away in 2007.
With a house full of boys, sometimes Bryan needs to escape for a date night. But has the “Drunk on You” crooner ever double-dated with his buddy Blake Shelton and girlfriend Gwen Stefani?
Watch the video to see what he said, and tune in to the 2016 CMT Awards on Wednesday, June 8, at 8 p.m. ET to see Bryan’s performance.
