You’d better redneck-ognize Mama June Shannon and Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson may still have some issues they’re working through. The Here Comes Honey Boo Boo alums sat down with HuffPost Live on Thursday, Dec. 3, to discuss their relationship and whether Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars has helped them after rumors surfaced in September 2014 that Sugar Bear had cheated.
The reality stars reveal in the upcoming Marriage Boot Camp premiere that they haven’t been intimate, and Mama June, 36, confirmed that’s still the case.
“It’s still non-existent,” she told HuffPost Live of her sex life with 43-year-old Sugar Bear, with whom she shares daughter Alana Thompson, 10. “He’s gotta earn a lot of trust and do a lot of the things that we talked about on Marriage Boot Camp that he promised.”
As for why they decided to appear on the show, which is entering its fourth cycle featuring reality personalities, Sugar Bear explained that the pair wanted to see if it could heal their relationship.
“Yeah, because I wasn’t getting answers at home,” Mama June added. “I know that he was cheating. A woman’s intuition is a woman’s intuition. He was denying it … I was like, ‘This is our last resort. Either it’s going to work or you’re going to walk away.’”
The Toddlers & Tiaras pageant mom also teased that fans of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo will see a different side of Sugar Bear, who was usually the quiet one on their hit TLC show.
“They’re going to see the truth out of Sugar Bear that people that know us and my kids know behind closed doors,” she hinted. “I think even the housemates were shocked seeing Sugar Bear in a different light. … I just hope there won’t be any bad backlash to the truths being revealed.”
Among them may be whether Alana’s dad cheated with men.
“You’ve just gotta watch the show to see the reveal,” Mama June said, adding that she was “very, very, very surprised” by some of the revelations made on the reality show.
The new season of Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars premieres Friday, Dec. 4, at 9 p.m. ET on WE tv.
