Marie Osmond is getting back to work.

The Donny & Marie Show -- co-headlined by her famous brother Donny Osmond -- will resume performances at Flamingo Las Vegas next Tuesday, March 9, Entertainment Tonight reports.

Look back on stars we lost in 2009

Shows had been suspended following the Feb. 26 suicide of her 18-year-old son Michael Blosil, who jumped out off the 8th floor of his L.A. apartment building.

The grieving Marie, 50, and Donny, 52, have also scheduled five new performance dates to make up for the cancelled shows.

Funeral arrangements for Blosil -- Marie's fifth eldest chid, adopted with her ex-husband Brian Blosil -- have not yet been confirmed.

I don't think it's fair to say she is over her son's death...each of us deal differently. I had a twin sister who I was very close to who had an untimely death. It was very, very painful for me, but the best thing for me was to go back to work. Being home just gave me too much time to sit around and feel depressed. Please don't judge Marie. Yes, I agree with LucyInTheSky...Donny and Marie are not the only one who gets paid...

When you have a contract there are lots of worker bee's behind the scenes that also rely on a paycheck....

I can't judge her either. She suffered a tragedy and it may be better for her to keep her schedule and work, as well as she has contracts and we don't know her financial situation as sole supporter of a large family. I read that she had to pay off ex-husband (who never seemingly worked) a huge alimony and child support (I guess they have joint custody?). Dunno. She had no pre-nup apparently and indicated that would've been good idea, in hindsight.

WOW! That was quick wasn't it. Didn't take her long to get over her sons death. Is this evidence that she was never there for her son? Doesn't sound like she's been around much to care.

I agree that this is probably the best thing for her...terrible tragedy, but she has to go on. Marie and Donny are the consummate entertainers, and need to respect the contract..."the show must go on." I applaud Marie.

Back to work on Tuesday? Adding additional shows Michael's death interupted? Can we all say "Greed!!!!" That child's soul is resting in peace now. My prayers are the supreme power has forgiven this young man's troubled soul. Why does hate run so rampant in religious cults? Why do the weak seek out these cults? Roseanne Barr, THANK YOU for speaking out for this young man.

too much, too soon, too sad!

The memorial is on Monday, and she is going back to work on Tuesday. What about her other children. I think out of respect she should atleast take a little time off. If my parents went back to work right away if that happened to my brother (when they could afford to take time) I would think they didn't care. Have uninterrupted time with your children. Show them they matter.

Marie, You need to be strong and have Faith in God. that was sad. God can heal you with grief.

RE: working mothers? What? Do you think we're still living in the past? Women have been working for many, many years now. Marie Osmond moved her family to Green Valley, so that she can do the Vegas show 5 times a week for 2 1/2 to 3 hours (factoring in the post show meet and greet), and spend the rest of the time with her kids. That's far fewer hours than most women work, and far MORE hours spent with her children. Ten years ago when Marie LEFT her family...she was suffering from post partum depression and literally didn't even KNOW what she was doing...she had amnesia. Read Marie O's last book....her family is the most important thing in the world to her. The kids and her brothers.

Note to "a"...I doubt she makes "millions". She isn't Celine Dion. Her showroom in Vegas is relatively small. Note that she is the main bread-winner for her children, and Donny also is the only supporter of his family. They lost their entire family fortune in the 80's because their father hadn't invested their money wisely (in my opinion), therefore they've had to start from scratch. Also, the entertainment business is fickle and you never know when you'll be "in" or "out" so you need to make money while you can as they have to think of retirement as well. I expect Marie does well with her dolls, crafts, and purses, but Donny doesn't have that and they have contracts they need to honor, so the show must go on.

Tessa, have you never heard of a working mother? Not all women can afford to stay home. Her son Michael was 18 and away at school. I believe that's quite normal. Also, she works at night, not during the day, so she likely spends lots of time with them during the day. Listen, you try and support 8 kids and see if you can do it without working. I think Marie is a class act and I'm sure she's mothering to the best of her ability. She had an excellent role-model with Olive, her mother. I have no doubt the apple didn't fall far from the tree.

God bless you Marie; keep your held held high, remain busy, and remember all the good times.

As someone who's lost both her parents, trust me, sometimes you need distractions to deal with grief. It's a healthy part of the process. Oh and Tessa, her son was 18, which means he was a legal adult and she didn't have to 'stay home with him.'

  • March 04, 2010 - 4:27pm Donna

I am really saddened by all the people here ragging on Marie Osmond. I thought people might at least have the class to offer some sympathy. Put yourself in someone else's place for a minute, please.

I certainly respect Marie's decision to return to her show in Vegas (which is terrific, by the way) and I wish her Godspeed as she takes the stage next week after the tragic loss of her son, Michael. I just hope she does what she needs to do in order to take care of HERSELF at this difficult time. We are holding you and the rest of your family in our hearts, Marie.

    That was quick.

After I lost both my Mom and Dad (within a year of each other) my doctor told me I should NOT take a sabbatical from work (even though I wanted to). It is important to keep to your routine when you are greiving and/or depressed or it can get worse.

  • March 04, 2010 - 3:17pm Kim

I recall about 10 years ago or so, when Marie walked out on her entire family. I'll say it again, she is irresponsible and selfish. She will reap what she sows.

  • March 04, 2010 - 3:16pm Hey Tessa

If being a mother is a FULL TIME JOB, then get off the computer and take care of your kids. If your excuse is that they are in school right now, then I guess you could have a job while they are in school.
