Marie Osmond's 18-year-old son Michael Blosil committed suicide by jumping from the eighth floor of his L.A. apartment building Friday night, UsMagazine.com has confirmed.
A rep for Marie Osmond released the following statement to UsMagazine.com Saturday afternoon:"My family and I are devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our dear Michael and ask that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time." Marie's brother Donny told Entertainment Tonight, "Please pray for my sister and her family."

Michael was one of eight children, and reportedly suffered "severe depression" throughout his life. The troubled young man left a despondent note explaining his decision to take his own life, ET reports. He entered a rehab facility at age 16 in 2007.

Marie and Donny Osmond's Las Vegas show was cancelled for Saturday night.
Update: L.A. County Coroner Investigator Jim Blacklock told UsMagazine.com that the the autopsy has not yet occurred, and that "that case is still under investigation." Blosil's death has a "security hold" on it, Blacklock explained -- which means that few details will be released to the public at this time.

Tell Us What You Think
129I pray that the Lord bless Marie and her family. Most of us don't have a clue what she is going through right now, so it is our prayers that will get her family through this.
As much as find this sad because he was so young...This actually doesn't surprise me as I find that family whacked! I doubt Marie was ever there for her children. I don't understand how people can say anything bad about Kate Gosselin when you have someone like Marie Osmond. It's no wonder he ended it. I couldn't stand having Donny or Marie as family. They are so annoying and would drive me nuts with their wierdness.
May the Lord bless and carry you and provide you strength in these times. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
My only thought is why was this 19 year old that's been treated for severe depression living on his own in LA? He comes from a huge family, you would think there would be a family member living with him or close by. It's sad, he was so young.
February 27, 2010 - 11:29pm Veronica your just plain disgusting! black people have as much right to be on this earth as us white people! RIP sympathey to the family x
I think the commet made by Aanon about Marie gainging weight back is the most hurtful thing you can say at a time like this. She needs our prayers not our hatful commets. Give it a rest and think about being in her shoes. She lost a child. Let's not make it personal
I can only imagine the pain that Michael's mother, father, siblings, extended family members, and friends are in at this time. One of the most important things a parent a can a teach their children are coping skills.
May God bring comfort to Marie and her family during this extremely heartbreaking time...Suicide is NEVER the answer and I pray that her young son has found the peace in the afterlife that he so desperately sought here on earth...Sending lots of love to the Osmond family.
My condolences to Michael Blosil's family and friends. I appreciate the comments from KC 12:11 pm who obviously knows a great deal about this disease.
so say several attorney generals.
this is truly sad...i hope her and her family cope wit it and get the help they need to overcome this tragic event..God is always on ur side in ur best and worst times. turn to God and he will help u wit everything...sorry for the lost again
My heart goes out to the family. I have personally suffered from depression for years and can not believe the IGNORANT statements. It is NOT the family's fault, it is NOT because he needed God (I am a Christian too), it is NOT because of the money int he family... It is a chemical imbalance ingrained in his being and every person is different in how much they can take. Just pray for the family and if you know someone who suffers from this debilitating disease - please be supportive of them and try to help them get the help they need. A very sad day - but maybe depression will be viewed differently.
TO THE OSMOND FAMILY YOU HAVE MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY ONLY HE KNOWS WHY HE COMMITED THIS GESTURE HE WAS A VERY SAD SOUL MAY IN THE OTHER DIMENSION HAPPINESS WILL BE WITH HIM
Depression is not something people choose. Suicide should never be blamed on surviving family and friends. Depression is a brain chemical imbalance that's very difficult to successfully address even with medication and cognitive therapy often combined with other traumatic circumstances that preoccupies the sufferer. Depressed people are overcome with terrible intrusive thoughts every moment of the day and night. It's hard for those who have never suffered to understand this very real condition. Blame should never be assigned to family/friends, nor should the victim be declared to have taken the easy way out or other nonsense. My heart goes out to Marie and other family members who deserve our kindness and understanding -- not judgement.
Surely there has to be a way for US to get rid of the racist comments shown here on this site. It is just not necessary or nice. There are, in my opinion, ignorant comments every day made on here. People are just not nice by nature, but that really is crossing a line. You have to give your email to post a comment; certainly, there is a way to block ignorant people as well. Please, get rid of the racists on this site!
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Michael. I hope Marie can make it thru this...that is a very tragic way to loose a child.
I bet she gains that 50 pounds back after this!
FIRST AND FOREMOST: My prayers go out to those left behind. Suicide is a tragedy beyond comprehension unless you have been touched by it, personally. To know that someone felt their situation so hopeless/desperate to deliberately take their own lives is torture for those that surrounded that person and either were truly unaware of their situation - blind to it - or unable/unsuccessful to help them. I have always thought the Osmond family "semi-talented', over-rated, condescending, pious and hypocritical (especially when it came to their 'so-called' religious beliefs and how sometimes they came across as "better then thou"). Mostly, I considered them fakish - with smacked on smiles/overly exaggerated happy attitudes/and family harmony. THAT BEING SAID...NO FAMILY DESERVES THIS. I wish them healing...GOD'S grace, comfort, and guidance. MY PERSONAL THOUGHTS ON THE FAMILY, IN GENERAL, DO "NOT" OVERSHADOW MY SINCERE SYMPATHY/COMPASSION FOR THEM IN DEALING WITH THIS TRAGEDY - AND FOR US WHO WEREN'T CLOSE TO THE SITUATION TO POINT FINGERS/ASSESS BLAME - IS UNPRODUCTIVE/THOUGHTLESS/AND CRUEL!.
thats so sad!my mom has battled depression all her life, but shes on meds for it.thats so awful! and all these heartless people on here u should be ashamed!anyone who commits suicide no matter if they r rich or poor is still a tragedy and he was so young too only 18?! my god...and ya these heartless comments should be deleted they shouldnt even be able to comment these people....
Where is the comment section for Jason Mesnick & Molly Malaney's Wedding, there's nothing there? Not that it's very important, etc.
