Mary Ann Mobley Collins has died at the age of 77, Us Weekly can confirm. The former Miss America and humanitarian passed away at her Beverly Hills home on Tuesday, Dec. 9.

Mobley Collins grew up in Biloxi, Miss., and was best known for being crowned Miss America in 1959. She was also the first woman to be voted into the University of Mississippi Alumni Hall of Fame.

The actress, who married TV talk show host Gary Collins in 1967, starred in several Broadway productions. She appeared in such musicals and plays as Nowhere to Go But Up, Guys and Dolls, Brigadoon, The King and I, The Music Man, Cabaret, Oklahoma!, Hello Dolly!, and Irene.

Off stage, Mobley Collins spent her time traveling with Collins to help relief organizations and to fight world hunger. She supported the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and was on the National Board of Trustees for the March of Dimes, National Council on Disability, and The National Crohn's and Colitis Foundation.

Mobley Collins is survived by daughters Clancy and Melissa Collins, son Guy William Collins, sister Sandra Young, and grandsons Garrett and Gaston Collins.
