Still friends? Matt LeBlanc caught up with Conan O’Brien on Monday, Aug. 10, to set the record straight about the time he spent with Prince Harry and Prince William.
The Friends alum, 48, once met the two royals at a polo match and was facing heat for a joke he made about the encounter on Conan earlier this year.
“So, I met them at this polo match and I met them and I had said to you — You said, ‘What did they want to talk about?’ And I said, ‘All they wanted to know was about the Friends reunion,'” LeBlanc recalled to O’Brien about a conversation they had on the show in January. “You said, ‘What did you tell them?’ I said, ‘Well, I told them to f–k off.’ Then we were clearly kidding.”
While LeBlanc thought it was easy to read the nature of his words, some viewers were not so sure. The actor told O’Brien that when he arrived in the UK after their previous chat to promote his show Episodes, he was questioned by reporters about his presumably bold statement to the princes.
“It was like 10 days in a row of interviews all day long to launch the show, and everyone asked, ‘So why did you tell the princes to f–k off? Why would you say that?'” he said. “I was like, ‘It was a joke! I never said that.’ They’re a) bigger than me, and b) that would be rude!”
Asked by O’Brien what message he would like to send to the princes now that his cursing rumor is cleared up, LeBlanc said simply, “I would like to say that they are very handsome.”
