Mel Gibson's Ex Defends Him Against Oksana Abuse Allegations

Mel Gibson's soon-to-be ex-wife Robyn has filed a written, sworn declaration to the courts defending him in his possible domestic violence case, according to TMZ.
In her 1-page declaration, she states: "Mel never engaged in any physical abuse of any kind toward me before, during or after our marriage," the website states.

During their 28 years of marriage (she filed for divorce last year), "Mel was a wonderful and loving father" to their seven children, she declares, according to TMZ.
Detectives are currently investigating whether Gibson, 54, abused 40-year-old Grigorieva -- with whom he is in an ugly custody dispute over their 8 1/2-month-old daughter, Lucia -- in January.

At a closed hearing Thursday morning (attended by several sheriff's investigators), detectives received profanity-laced recordings in which Gibson apparently launches a verbal attack against Grigorieva.
They are examining the authenticity of the recordings, Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore told the Associated Press.
He said detectives still hope to speak to Gibson, who has yet to be interviewed.

Whitmore would not speculate on when the case would be turned over to prosecutors, who will decide whether Gibson should face criminal charges, the AP reports.
Said Whitmore, "It's not going to be rushed."

I learned in a self defense class when someone starts shouting & behaving with hostility it's best u lower ur voice, so they don't escalate. Also if someone is an abusive person on the level Mel's displaying, it wouldn't matter if u said nothing at all, tried to politely reason with him or began shouting as loud as he was. He's angry, insecure & bitter. Oksana was there for Mel to take it out on her, so he did just that.

The ex only mentions "physical" abuse. I'm wondering if they asked her, "did he ever engage in out-of-control, psychotic rants and rages"? My guess is, yes. I think the ex will say anything necessary to preserve whatever earning power Gibson has left. Afterall, she has her alimony and child support to think about, doesn't she. Besides, she is probably counting her blessings she is well out of it and doesn't have to put up with him anymore.
Hey, Comment! Sounds like you've never been in an abusive relationship, and good for you! I'm happy for you - but the truth is, when you know that someone is violent and angry, you NEED to stay calm. As soon as you really start fighting back, it just ESCALATES! Unfortunately, I've seen it. It's nice that a lot of people haven't lived through that kind of abuse, that they would think that being calm in that environment means it's fake. It's not.
On the tapes, she sounds waaaay to calm for someone being called so many names. Sounds really fake. She soooo set him up. ******************** Finally, someone who actually paid attention. Nobody is that calm in that environment unless they have something to gain. She has been setting him up since before his divorce, and he fell for it.
Robyn Gibson only states that he was not physically abusive which may refute Oksana's allegations that he punched her teeth out (which we still have not confirmed is true). But Robyn does not say that he wasn't a verbally abusive racist (which he is). If you've heard the tapes you can hear what I crazy Mel Gibson has become. In any case, in regard to the custody battle, any guy who can speak like that to ANYONE should not be having custody of a child. He has proved that he is a racist, anti-semetic pig who has no business raising a child with his attitude and short temper fuse. I wouldn't want him near my child.

Nothing's been "blown out of proportion." Those tapes are Mel going crazy, ranting at Oksana. Even if she "provoked" him into getting angry, what kind of a person gets "angry" like that? He's a "mad" man and he needs HELP. If anything, these tapes will help the word see that he's not merely a misogynist or a racist, he is unstable and needs to be helped, not judged and discarded as a "racist" or a terrible person.

The fact that she didn't mention 'emotional' abuse or 'verbal' abuse speaks volumes. Just because he treated her well doesn't mean he's a saint. The tapes speak for themselves and I think the booze just brought out his real feelings. Booze doesn't make you a monster, it just brings your true self to light. Also I suspect his wife never brought out any 'passion' in him, she was the virgin mother that passively bore him children. It's obvious Mel and Oksana bring out the worse in each other - lust and passion sometimes do that. I suspect he's at war within himself. His religion tells him lust is wrong yet he seems to want this woman to perform acts on him constantly as per his tapes. Probably the first time he's enjoyed himself sexually and now he's feeling guilty and ashamed due to years of religious brainwashing. It's okay to enjoy pleasure Mel but it shouldn't be in this kind of violent and threatening environment. It's different when it's between two people that have respect for each other.

And, I'm Black! This man sounds EXTREMELY frustrated and like he needs some professional help dealing with his anger issues. But, I need more evidence to believe he's a TRUE racist. He and Oksana need to split, for sure. But, what sent him off on such rages? I hope a positive resolution can be reached soon and that they can both find peace. In the meantime, Mel still has my support.
It seems to me that Mel Gibson lost his way. A few years ago I was so impressed with the movie "The Passion of the Christ" directed by him. I thought that the world needed a wake up call and that was it. However, since then Mel has had many problems. I think that too much money can ruin a person and often lead him astray. Mel comes across to me as arrogant, placing himself above others. He has his own church, making his own rules. He claims to be Catholic, yet refuses to follow the Catholic Church (Vatican II). I read that he does not believe in birth control (only the rythem method taught by the Catholic Church), yet he must believe in premarital sex (which the Catholic Church does not). You can't have your cake and eat it too. Life does not work that way. I actually feel sorry for him. I think basically he is a very good person that has lost his way (money sometimes is the root of all evil but not always). He needs to ask God to help him and give him direction in his life. Mel also has to stop making his own rules and follow the Church. God will help him; but he must ask from the heart. I will pray for him. He has such gifts. I hope he gets back on track.
