Never say never! In a new interview with HuffPost Live on Tuesday, Nov. 17, Mena Suvari discussed her hopes for the future of the American Pie franchise.
“I hope we get to tell the next chapter,” said Suvari, who played Heather. “Hopefully it would be something positive and not too negative, like they’re all divorced.”
The actress, 36, jokingly added that the movie would be titled American Pie: The Midlife Crisis Years.
The fan-favorite franchise kicked off in 1999 and sparked three sequels, with 2012’s American Reunion being the most recent.
“I think [American Pie] really came about at a time that people were really interested in a film like that and it worked,” Suvari said. “We were able to come back again and do American Pie 2 [and] American Wedding, and doing American Reunion was a lot of fun because we hadn’t seen each other in a long time. It was great to tell the next chapter of that story.”
She added, “It’s something that I’m really grateful to be a part of. I think it’s really wonderful that people like those characters so much.”
Suvari is currently gearing up for the Nov. 27 premiere of South of Hell, a supernatural thriller on WE tv. She plays a demon hunter named Maria who struggles with her own demon that lives inside of her.
