Michael’s body was found near his abandoned car, Grand County Sheriff Steven White told the Daily Mail. According to White, the former reality star’s older brother, who’d been missing since the day after Thanksgiving, was found “northwest of where the car was located, approximately three miles from the vehicle.”

As previously reported, Michael was last seen on Nov. 27 at a Utah convenience store. His 2014 Honda Civic was later found abandoned miles down a dirt path off the I-70 highway in Grand County, Utah. His car, which appeared to have hit a rocky ditch after straying from the highway, was found running and with the airbags deployed. Michael’s body was found three days after he was reported missing.

According to White, Michael’s remains were located in an area described as “a very steep slope, kind of rocky with boulder fields around it.” “He was kind of on the slope itself,” White said. “He was not too far from the bottom but he was actually on the slope itself.”

In a statement to Us Weekly on Thursday, Kristin confirmed that Michael’s body had been found. “We want to thank everyone for their love, support and prayers during this very difficult time," the mother of three said. "We have just been informed by the authorities my brother's body has been found. This is a very painful time and we are still processing it all. We kindly ask everyone please respect our privacy during our time of grieving."”

In an emotional Instagram post, the Hills alum expressed her grief, captioning a throwback photo of her and Michael as kids: "My heart is in a million pieces. Mikey, I could always count on you to make me laugh. You had such a good heart and will be forever missed. I'm at a loss for words but I know u are in a better place and finally at peace. I love u so much RIP.”

As previously reported, Michael had been arrested in California on Nov. 23 for making criminal threats just four days prior to his disappearance. He was released on bail on Nov. 25.
