Michael Lohan: Lindsay Won't Recover if She Stays at Betty Ford

Michael Lohan tells UsMagazine.com his daughter Lindsay won't beat her drug problem if she continues treatment at Betty Ford.
The Rancho Mirage, Calif., facility has treated numerous celebs - including the late Anna Nicole Smith - and Lindsay, 24, became its latest patient on Tuesday (it is her fifth stint in rehab).
"Look at the 'short' list of people who went to Betty Ford -- most, if not all, have relapsed," he tells Us. "I went there myself, and I will tell you, Betty Ford is a country club. They administer prescription meds and even put their patients on prescription meds. Once more, they don't have family therapy at all."
Michael tells Us family therapy is key to his daughter's recovery.
"The root of her problems is her family," he says. "This will not work -- mark my words!"

Still, he tells Us he is relieved "to know Lindsay is in a safe place and away from her enablers."
But "if Betty Ford gives her any prescription drugs, they become another enabler," he tells Us. "Back to square one!"
Lindsay is due back in court Oct. 22.

11He is so right! The family has to recover too. Her problems are her family and if there's not family therapy and mending she then has no support system. That support system is extremely important in recovery if it is to be a SUCCESSFUL recovery. This I KNOW being a now adult child of a recovered alcoholic. But above all Lindsay has to hit her ROCK BOTTOM and want this! Come on Lindsay Hit that Sucker!! Get into some facility that does FAMILY THERAPY!

I think he is the last person she needs advice from. Family may be the cause of her issues, but maybe staying away from her family is what she needs to do. If he cares about her daughter he'd be quiet and do what he can to help her heal.

Lohan's never going to get well unless a)she wants to, and b)she goes into hiding. Her family is crazy, and Hollywood seems to care too much about following her, hence more drama. Addicts recover because they want to, and they do the hard work to get better. Until she wants to get better, she won't.
Is Michael just trying to find a way to get free therapy for himself? No matter what Lindsay does he has something horrible to say about it. Stop making excuses for Lindsay, and start looking at yourself - because Michael is contributing to her destruction.. Granted I think she is just trying butter up the judge because isn't it amazing how before she said she did not have a drug problem and convinced those at Cedar Sinai she did not have a problem. Lindsay is a great manipulator.. She needs to get true help before she kills herself or someone else.
95% of addicts/alcoholics don't permanantly recover regardless of whether they get to be in a fancy treatment center or not. LL is just 'not recovering' in a very public way. Would be nice if her family stayed outof her business, but her business appears to be their busine$$

OK, Michael Lohan needs to be happy that his daughter is once again seeking help for her addictions. He needs to shut his mouth and stop selling his "interviews" so that he can live the celebrity life he thinks that he has. If he thinks this is going to bring Lindsay back into his life, he should probably try looking for a real life which he is sadly lacking.
He is right... Her FAMILY IS the cause of her issues.
