Miley Cyrus Stalker, 53, Charged
A 53-year-old man has been charged with attempting to stalk Miley Cyrus, the Associated Press reports.
Georgia resident Mark McLeod told police he was secretly engaged to the 16-year-old Hannah Montana star and was arrested after he returned to the set of her latest movie, weeks after he was warned to stay away.
Tybee Island police chief Jim Price said McLeod was arrested after Disney security officers reported he was trying to find the actress -- who is currently filming The Last Song -- on Sunday.
McLeod was arrested in June on charges of disorderly conduct and obstruction. Police said he had tried to breach a security perimeter around the movie set.
At the time of that arrest, he told police he and Cyrus "were supposed to be together, and we couldn't stop it." He claimed he met her 18 months ago and sent her diamond rings and other gifts.
The man was released from jail in June after signing papers agreeing to return for a court appearance Sept. 1.
Although he has made no known threats to Cyrus, Price said, the attempted stalking charge was warranted because "he's been warned by the police officers not to come back after the first arrest."
