Mom: Elisabetta Canalis Is "Down in the Dumps" After Clooney Split

Elisabetta Canalis's parents have spoken up about her split from George Clooney after two years together.

The 32-year-old Italian model "is very down in the dumps," her mother, Bruna, tells the Italian edition of Vanity Fair. "I've spoken to her, and she is very sad, but these things happen."
Clooney, 50, first met Bruna and papa Cesare, a doctor, during a much-photographed visit to Sardinia last year. "He is a nice guy, good fun," Cesare told Vanity Fair. "We had a good time, but there was a lot of attention and we are not used to it."
Elisabetta's dad admits he's bummed that the handsome American movie star won't be joining the family. "He certainly would have made a good son-in-law, but it's my daughter who has to decide."
Canalis and Clooney have publicly expressed different views on becoming husband and wife; once-married Clooney swore off the institution in a January 2011 interview, while Canalis said in a June chat she is a "firm believer in marriage."

Italian Vanity Fair also reports that Canalis recently stopped by Clooney's Villa Oleandra home in Lake Como to clear out her things. "She had her dog with her and was smoking a lot," one witness said.

21Another one who was going to change his mind. George has been very clear about his feelings on getting married again. He was honest with her. He just said again in January in an interview he would never get married again. I personally, do not find her that attractive in the face at all. She is quite full of herself also. She'll be fine.
Heather, why does THESE woman then continue to go for a man who pretty much has made it clear he is NOT at all interested in marriage. Gee, do you think they would stay with him because he is a famous actor who spends a lot of money on them? If a woman chooses to get into a serious relationship with a man who has said he will never get married again and then starts sprouting to the media about marriage she got her answer. Now her parents are talking to the media about the relationship. Seems like the parents are attention seekers as well.
I don't think George Clooney is an arrogant jer or self centered. He's made it very clear, he won't marry again and was married once. That's more honest than being pressured into marriage or doing it for other people. Whatever way he is in relationships obviously anyone who gets involved with him should be aware of this. I think George Clooney is a very handsome man.....and I think she was a fool for mentioning anything about marriage. You can't change anyone but yourself.

Id like to feel sorry for her, how can you? She got to be with George Clooney, hello! Madame Canalis, you knew he wouldnt get married again..why would you think you can change someone who doesnt want to. He is set in his ways and if the man doesnt want to get married thats his choice, why in the world makes you believe you could change him. Here's an example of a woman that knew what she was getting into and now wants people to sympathize with her. Im not. Best wishes to the both of them!
I love George Clooney, but any woman who wants to get married someday should run the other way when they see him coming, lol. I guess the challenge is too much to resist. I SO admire an upfront man, because a lot of them will just tell you what you want to hear to get what they want.

Clooney is a lot (I mean a lot) older now than he was when he gave his first marriage a try. Seriously he needs to stop bagging women because most all want to be married someday. He should set his sights on only women who feel the exact same why he does and nothing else. Like Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell. Anyway he is just using this act for publicity for himself because he has nothing going on and is drying up.
The good news is that she is drop dead beautiful. Now she is free to find a husband (if that's what she wants) and to have a children. This is a blessing for her that this happened.
I saw this one coming when she publically stated she believed in marriage. She was smart the first 2 years, implied she didn't want kids and care a less about marriage. Then recently she made the statement she believed in marriage and whamo "done like dinner" within a couple of weeks of making that statement. She certainly knew what she was getting into and should have guarded her heart with this man who is always honest about where he stands on marriage and long term relationships.
Why a big deal ..lot of peoples just live together without going to the big marriage..

Break ups are never fun and yes, Elisabetta,thought she would be the one to tame George and she, of course, was not. She certainly can't say he led her on in anyway..she'll be fine.
