Newly Single Jim Carrey Thanks Fans for "Well Wishes"

Hours after announcing that he and girlfriend of five years Jenny McCarthy have split, Jim Carrey thanked his fans for all their support.
"I appreciate your well wishes today!" he Twittered Tuesday. "All of you folks together make One Mighty Heart!"

Carrey fans immediately reached out to the actor, 48, after Tuesday's shocking split announcement. "don't soffocate [sic] your feelings, cry if u need it," one fan wrote to him.

Celeb blogger Perez Hilton consoled McCarthy, 37, telling her that despite their breakup, "5 years is longer than a lot of Hollywood marriages ... Stay positive!"

Earlier in the day, McCarthy Twittered that she is "so grateful" for the years she spent with Carrey. During their time together, they celebrated Carrey becoming a grandfather for the first time.
"I will continue to be in his daughter's life and will always keep Jim as a leading man in my heart," she Twittered.

They were a very respectful hollywood couple...others could learn from their example. Even in "break-up" they hold themselves with dignity and respect not only for themselves but for one another. I am sad to see they couldn't make it work but it is also nice to see they aren't playing the "blame" game in the public eye.
I'm a big Carrey fan. It's sad-I'm sure it's hard after losing 5 years of your life for nothing on someone. Better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved!
I'm a big fan of Carrey's, too. You never know what's going to happen in a relationship. It must be hard after spending all of that time on someone for nothing, really, but you learn from it and grow as a person if that helps!

Oh no, so sad. I really liked them as a couple, and they seemed to really have it together. Just goes to show you, you have to have the HEART - in more ways than one - to stay together. After 18 years of marriage, i outta know. Just makes me realize how truly BLESSED I am with my wonderful hubby.
