Not-so-friendly Flipper! Lakers star Nick Young is no longer a fan of dolphins after he had one bizarre and terrifying encounter with the beloved aquatic mammals.
The NBA player, 29, dished on his dolphin tale in a post-game interview on Tuesday, Feb. 10. After the Los Angeles Lakers fell to the Denver Nuggets by a score of 106 to 96, Young was asked about a series of recent tweets posted by his famous girlfriend Iggy Azalea.
"Nick is scared of Dolphins," the "Fancy" rapper wrote without context on Monday. "A dolphin in Cabo tried to kill him once. I was there and to be fair, it's true. Now he won't go on the wild dolphin snorkel tour. Lol."
"This is a low story," the athlete admitted to reporters in the Lakers locker room. "[We were] on vacation, dolphin was trying to kill me for some reason."
Young and Azalea's romantic Cabo San Lucas, Mexico vacation apparently took a turn for the worse when their adventurous activity of swimming with dolphins got dangerous.
"He was playing with everybody else, doing what dolphins do — the 'ack ack' and all that," Young continued. "It was my time to ride the dolphin. For some reason, he took me all the way to the bottom. He was trying to drown me. But I seen it happening so I jumped out of the water and took off the little life vest and threw off my little water shoes and stayed outside… He went straight down. He was trying to kill me."
Asked why the dolphin took issue with him and not the other swimmers, Young responded, "I think he was trying to get at Iggy cause he was a little friendly, kissing her and stuff. He was trying to take my woman."
