Oklahoma City police have arrested a mother on suspicion of fatally stabbing her 8-month-old son and seriously injuring her 4-year-old daughter and a 28-year-old man, thought to be her partner.
Raven Veloz was charged with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. Police say they entered an apartment early on Monday, July 11, and found four people with knife wounds (including Veloz herself).
Baby Ezekiel Veloz, 8 months, was pronounced dead when police arrived on the scene. The state medical examiner's office said the boy's cause of death was multiple stab wounds.
Neighbors at the Cambridge Landing Apartments told News 9 that police and fire crews had to break down the apartment door to get in. Officers say that Raven Veloz's wounds appeared to be self-inflicted.
According to prior reports and Facebook entries, it appears that another of Veloz’s children died earlier this year. The mother’s 2-year-old daughter reportedly passed away in January as a result of SIDS; the state medical examiner's office ruled the death as natural.
