Protecting his family or taking it too far? TMZ reports that Olivier Martinez has been named in a battery investigation after an incident at LAX Airport on Sunday, Jan. 4.
The French actor, 48, was allegedly exiting the airport with his wife Halle Berry, 15-month-old son Maceo, and Berry’s daughter Nahla, 6, when photographers and airport employees crowded them.
Martinez, who was photographed holding an empty car seat, allegedly used the seat to shove an airport employee to the ground. TMZ adds that it is unclear if the man who fell had been trying to take pictures of the famed family. He was taken to a hospital, and TMZ adds that he complained of abdominal pain.
In a video posted by TMZ, Martinez and the rest of his family hurried out of the airport as they were continuously hounded by photographers shouting about assault. One photographer even screamed, “Violence in front of children! I hope he doesn’t hit you at home.”
As Martinez helped his son Maceo into a car seat, the airport employee in question came rushing out to the car, telling the police officers assisting the family that he was pressing charges.
This isn’t the first time Martinez has been at the center of a physical altercation. In November 2012, he was treated at a hospital after being injured in a fight with Berry’s ex Gabriel Aubry. Aubry, 39, and Berry, 48, were in the middle of an intense custody battle for their daughter Nahla at the time.
