The British boy band members joined James Corden in a hilarious skit on Thursday, May 14’s Late Late Show, playing the role of a group of professional dodgeball players in a team called Corden’s Angels, facing off against a team of seriously terrifying female players, The Ball Breakers.

Making their first television appearance as a foursome since the shock departure of former bandmate Zayn Malik in March, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson donned some super skimpy shorts for the side-splittingly funny sketch which showed the boys preparing for, and then taking part in, a dodgeball tournament, with Corden as their coach.

Whether it was doing sit-ups into Corden’s groin, getting slapped round the cheek or just generally playing really bad dodgeball, the British hunks had audience members in stitches during the seven minute clip.

Later on in the show, the “Best Song Ever” singers spoke out about the aftermath of Malik’s departure and revealed things got rocky between them all for a while.

“It’s like anything, at first we were a little bit angry, we were surprised,” Payne told Corden of the unexpected departure. “You could sort of tell from the outside,” he added. “There were certain parts of the job that Zayne loved and certain parts he didn’t — you’ve got to follow your heart. We were angry at first, then a bit more disappointed, but we wish him the best of luck, there’s no hard feelings,” he insisted.

Tomlinson, who has had some harsh words with Malik via Twitter in recent weeks, also insisted the former pals had patched things up since then. “There’s been a bit of back and forth, we’re on quite good terms,” he told Corden. “I’ve never been one, never been very good at biting my tongue. Twitter’s great for saying things you probably shouldn’t but it’s all good now,” he added.
