Super Bowl Sunday has been known to test a few friendships, but hopefully Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen will be able to pull through, despite reaping opposing teams in a recent Twitter photo. The precious pair snapped a comical photo in which Stewart, 73, rocked a Seattle Seahawks jersey, and McKellen, 74, opted for a Denver Broncos jersey.
"Football!" Stewart captioned the photo on his official Twitter page, while holding up a soccer ball in the middle.
Both seasoned actors hail from England, where soccer is referred to as football and the game played at the Super Bowl is known as "American football." The X-Men costars have been inseparable lately. Starring in back-to-back plays No Man's Land and Waiting For Godot on Broadway, the duo has been spending plenty of time together during their stint in the Big Apple.
Stewart lives in Brooklyn full time and McKellen left his home in London to star on Broadway.
In September 2013, McKellen officiated Stewart's third wedding to singer-songwriter Sunny Ozell.
"I did my part," McKellen wrote at the time on his official Facebook page with a picture of himself holding up a "Minister" black T-shirt and the couple's marriage certificate.
