Mackenzie Phillips has dropped $50,000 on Botox, Restylane and laser treatments to her face, as well as 36 hours' worth of extensive dental work and hair extensions.

Why the new look?

On ABC's Good Morning America Wednesday, Phillips, 50, said that she wants her makeover to reflect her desire to reinvent her life from the inside out.

"I've no desire to erase anything," she said. "I'm really happy."

The former child star - who has long battled substance-abuse problems - made headlines last year when she admitted her father, Mamas and the Papas musician John Phillips, raped her when she was 18.

She previously said the relationship became consensual, but on GMA she changed her tune. "I've learned from thousands of survivors across several continents … that there is no such thing as consensual incest, because of the inherent power," she explained.

"I do not believe he had malicious intent," she added of her father, who died in 2001. "I believe he was a man who was ravaged by drugs and alcohol."

Though some of her family members criticized her for talking to the press, Phillips -- who is now estranged from most of her family -- said she has no regrets about coming clean about her abusive past.

"OK, right now a child is being raped, so what should I do? Follow the path of sweep it under the carpet, don't talk about it?" she said on GMA. "The more you challenge the conspiracy of silence, the less silence will be acceptable."

I think it is vast improvement after seeing her on Celebrity Rehab. I wish her continued happiness and sobriety. However, I do think she might want to consider quitting smoking -tolling to both her health AND her looks.

I think she looks alot better, still the same structues,.. but she definatley erased alot of the damage that the drugs and turmoil her life brought her. As far as her not looking that different, she still looks like her,.. just revitalized. And in my opinion she deserves it.

I am glad for Mackenzie. I believe she was abused by her dad in many ways, and she deserves a good life now....and a new start. She has suffered enough. I pray for her happiness and sobriety and that she can finally let the past go.

On Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, they redecorated her bedroom and bathroom, because she was 'so broke', and Dr. Drew felt sorry for her. Something's not making sense here!!

I watched Mackenzie when I was younger on "One Day at a Time" and I have always liked her. I am sorry that she went through such a horrific childhood, but I think with Dr. Drew's help, she really has seen the light and hopefully she will know that he will always be there for her if she needs his help. You go girl!!!!!

I don't care how much plastic surgery or botox she gets, she is and always will be one hell of an ugly woman. Her 15 minutes of fame should have been over 15 years ago.

I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU PEOPLE ARE PLAYING INTO HER LIES. SHE IS A DRUGGIE WHO RAN OUT OF MONEY AND WAITED UNTIL HER FATHER WAS DEAD TO MAKE UP A HORRIBLY DISGUSTING STORY ABOUT HAVING SEX (CONSENSUAL SEX) SO THAT SHE COULD GET MONEY FOR DRUGS AND SURGERY TO FIX THAT UGLY A.S.S. FACE OF HERS. SHE IS A LIAR AND SHOULD GO SOMEWHERE AND O.D. AND GIVE THE PRESS AND THE TABLOIDS A BREAK. NO ONES WANTS TO HEAR HER BULLS.HIT LIES. SHE'S A DRUGGIE WHO IS NEVER GOING TO CLEAN UP HER ACT. SHE IS A LOSER AND ALWAYS WILL BE. NOW GO AHEAD AND BASH ME FOR SAYING THIS CAUSE I DON'T CARE. NOTHING ANYONE CAN SAY IS GOING TO CHANGE MY MIND ABOUT THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE.

christina: "third, read a psychology book. It's NEVER consensual when it's incest. ".. this is where you lose me. Mackenzie was 27 and boning her dad too. If she had been 12, I'd agree. By 27...... you are pretty much consenting to sex (as she said with her own words: "consensual"). I dont need to read the words of a psychologist. My IQ is higher than most psychologists and If i had a better command of english, I probably could BECOME one. I keep picturing this scenario in my mind every time I think of those two: "mackenzie...age 27, hops in her car and drives 39 minutes across town..... to have sex with her father."

I get what you were saying about the law and all that. But do you remember what your mentality and maturity were like at 18? Granted yours may have been a bit more ahead of your peers considering you were already running your own business (bravo for you) but most people at that age don't think like adults. Second, I'm not the one doing the whole gender generalization. That's you. I was speaking about predators, who in this case was her father. Third, read a psychology book. It's NEVER consensual when it's incest. Fourth, that junkie was turned into a junkie by her father at age 11. She never had a chance to think normally or rationally from that point on. And fifth, I don't need nor do I want anyone's condolences. I stopped being a victim years ago. And I have never, ever used what happened to me as a excuse. Instead I became a stronger person because of it. Strong enough to stand up for those who can not stand up for themselves and to stand by those who are brave enough to. I stand againd abuse of any kind. Period.

Looking great Mackenzie! I wish you nothing but the best in life:)

  • March 17, 2010 - 5:50pm Good Luck McKenzie!

I can do nothing else if not wish McKenzie Phillips good luck in her future and with her sobriety. I hope she is able to stay clean and healthy. She looks good with the new make-over and I wouldn't deny her the ability to do it. She's been through hell as a child/teenager and young adult in a home that was supposed to keep her safe. I wish McKenzie well.

people always blame the victim in sexual abuse cases like this because they are sick and filthy human beings MacKenzie: you are doing a great job in your sobriety and healing!! so many good, strong healthy woman understand you and don't shame you. ignore the miserable people, they are lonely and have never known happiness. sad really great new, beautiful look you have!!

  • March 17, 2010 - 5:23pm Kelly

Two things everyone needs to realize. 1. It would be very difficult to get even 10K worth or Restlyane in your face. Same goes for Botox, I would estimate 2k tops! 3. Laser, there are lots of types of laser, could have been very invasive and maybe could be worth 10K? maybe... BUT... the sadest part is, that is a lot of money, and neither Restylane or Botox is even semi-permanent.... 6 months from now, gone!

  • March 17, 2010 - 5:02pm Mackenzie looks fabulous - Good for Her!

She looks better than ever. I'm glad she continues to be clean and sober. I wish her the best.
