Now that filming for Gossip Girl's sixth and final season is underway, Penn Badgley has had to ditch his grungy look for Upper East Side polish!
The Gossip Girl actor debuted his clean-shaven, beardless face — plus a cleaned-up haircut — at the Fela! Returns to Broadway event in NYC on Thursday. Dressed casually in brown pants and a plain white T-shirt, the 25-year-old gave fans a glimpse of what's been hiding under his thick facial hair for the past several months. Earlier that day, the Dan Humphrey-playing star was spotted on the set of the NYC-based show alongside Michelle Trachtenberg, who plays Georgina Sparks.
In June, Badgley predicted that his thick beard wasn't going to be around for much longer, telling Vulture he's "probably going to shave it in about a week."
"I've never really had the opportunity to grow [a beard]. . . because of work. And I know everybody hates it," he told the New York magazine blog.
Since wrapping the CW show's fifth season, the actor has been keeping busy with his girlfriend, Zoe Kravitz, 23. In the fall, the pair were spotted at NYC's Occupy Wall Street movement, in addition to several other dates around the Big Apple.
