Rupert Sanders had his wedding ring firmly in place for his first public outing Monday since being caught in photos cheating on his wife Liberty Ross with actress Kristen Stewart.
Sanders wore shades to face the paparazzi since Us Weekly released the exclusive photos of the Snow White and the Huntsman director, 41, engaged in a steamy makeout session with his star actress Stewart, 22, on July 17. The director dressed casually in jeans and displayed his wedding ring to photographers while out in Los Angeles with a somber expression on his face.
Sanders issued a public apology for his illicit affair to Us on July 25.
“I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family,” the English director said in a statement. “My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together.”
Sanders and British Vogue model Ross, 33, have been married for seven years. They have two children, ages 7 and 5. “It’s really shocking,” a Ross insider told Us. “She has been with Rupert since she was 18 — they got together when she graduated. He’s the only love she’s known.”
Stewart issued her own apology on July 25 directed at her Twilight costar and boyfriend Robert Pattinson, 26, saying she is “deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I’ve caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry.”
