There's a new member of the royal family!

Like Charles' mother, Queen Elizabeth, Camilla is a noted animal lover. While the Queen, 85, has owned multiple Corgis throughout the past fifty years, Camilla has been an avid equestrian.

Charles and Camilla aren't the first celebs to rescue a pet; Robert Pattinson, Kelly Ripa, Kristen Bell, Oprah Winfrey and Lauren Conrad and have all adopted dogs from shelters.

5I hope this becomes a trend.Everytime there is a movie out, Dalmations, Chihuahuas, etc. There is a mad rush for breeders to churn them out. Then there is a sickening overload in the shelters. If people would just adopt (and spay/neuter) we wouldn't have this heartbreaking nightmare of pet overpopulation!!
President Obama didn't buy Bo at all, so the comment about the President setting a poor example by not adopting a dog from a shelter was just wrong. Bo was a gift to Sasha and Malia from the late Senator Edward Kennedy, who owned one of Bo's littermates. If you're going to comment negatively, it's a good idea to know the correct information before making the comment.
President Obama did NOT adopt a dog from a shelter. He set a poor example by buying Bo from a breeder when 5 million dogs die every year in this country's shelter (and yes, there are plenty of purebreds and hypo-allergenic dogs in shelters). His former owner gave him back to the breeder and then the breeder sold him to the Obamas. This is well known!
Good on them! I'm so glad to see them adopt a dog rather than pay a breeder a lot of money!
