Kiss and a miss! Prince William got rejected by a little girl on Thursday, April 4 when he tried to give her a kiss.
The first-time dad-to-be was greeting well-wishers at the Donald Dewer Leisure Centre in Glasgow, Scotland with his pregnant wife Kate Middleton when a 4-year-old girl named Shona Ritchie, dressed up as a princess, asked William for a kiss. But when he leaned in, Shona adorably became too shy and recoiled.
Her mother, Karen Ritchie, told the Daily Mail, "She's been dressed up like that since 6 a.m. today and we've been here waiting since nine. But when she finally plucked up the courage to ask him, she got really shy and pulled away."
"Oh, no! You see!" William said after getting rejected. "Aw. Next time, Shona. Next time."
Little Shona also refused to give William, 30, a flower, as she was saving it to give to his wife. "Is that for me?" he asked. "Is that for Kate? "Yeah, you're going to give it for her."
When Middleton, 31, made her way down the line, Shona happily gave her the gift.
"She said Shona looked very pretty and asked her if she had picked the flower from her garden," Ritchie recalled of meeting Middleton. "But Shona told her she got it from my vase in the house and she thought that was very funny."
