Rachel Bloom is crazy determined to get Americans to the polls on Election Day.
The Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star, 29, created a Funny or Die video titled “Holy S—T (You’ve Got to Vote),” asking U.S. citizens to do just that come November 8. Accompanied on the song by Moby on drums and Elizabeth Banks on bass, the actress implores “the U.S.A. not to shoot itself in the face” by choosing “an orange talking STD” a.k.a. Republican nominee Donald Trump.
Though the clip doesn’t mention his opponent Hillary Clinton until the final seconds, the star-studded roster on the “We Are The World”-esque anthem — including Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Patti LuPone, Jane Lynch, Naya Rivera and Adam Scott — rattle off many reasons not to put the former Apprentice host in office for the next four years. The Mindy Project alum Adam Pally goes as far as calling Trump, 70, “the worst presidential candidate our country’s ever seen.”
“It really doesn’t take a rocket scientist,” sings a chorus of stars such as comedian Paul Scheer and The Big Bang Theory’s Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch.
Bloom told Entertainment Weekly, where the video premiered November 4, that she wrote the song in a span of two weeks, rounded up the “hodgepodge” of celebrities and edited the video in three days.
“No Trump voter is getting swayed at this point from a comedy video, they’re not,” she said. “If this video motivates one person, especially in a swing state, to just get out there, then it will have been worth it. I just personally didn’t want to say I did nothing. I wanted to say I tried.”
