Rob Bironas Dies at Age 36: Former Tennessee Titans Kicker Killed in Car Crash

Former Tennessee Titans kicker Rob Bironas was killed in an overnight car crash on Saturday, Sept. 20 in Nashville, Tenn., USA Today reports. He was 36 at the time of his death.

Bironas married Rachel Bradshaw, the daughter of Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw, in June. The football player was driving when he lost control of the vehicle, went off the road, and hit several trees before his car flipped upside down in a drainage culvert. 

The Metro Police spokesman Don Aaron said there was no evidence of alcohol at the scene of the crash. 

He was released from the Tennessee Titans in March, and the team issued a statement on Sunday, Sept. 21 about their fallen player.

"We are deeply saddened to hear the tragic news from last night about Rob Bironas," the team's official Twitter handle tweeted. "Rob made a significant impact as a player in his nine years with the team and more importantly touched many lives in the Nashville community off the field. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife, Rachel, and his family during this very difficult time."
