Robert Pattinson spoke out about racist critics of fiancee FKA twigs in the new issue of Britain's NME magazine

Robert Pattinson addressed racist criticism of his fiancee, FKA twigs, in an interview for the new issue of Britain’s NME magazine.

Asked about the harsh online abuse that English singer and songwriter twigs, 27, has received, the Twilight heartthrob, 29, made no secret of his anger.

“I was talking to my dad about this and I bet him that if he looked up Nelson Mandela’s funeral on YouTube, the first comment would be a racist one,” Pattinson said. “And it was, with like a million upvotes. What I don’t get is why. I think it’s because most normal people are not commenters — I’ve never met anyone who’s left a comment on anything.”

But he didn’t stop there. The hunky actor also speculated that commenters are “just demons who live in basements.”

“You have this weird thing where you end up trying to fight against this faceless blob, where the more you hate it, the bigger it gets, because it’s all in your head,” he added.

Asked for his own thoughts on the “Two Weeks” performer, the Harry Potter alum said she’s “just an amazing, amazing artist.”

Pattinson famously dated his Twilight costar Kristen Stewart for five years; they split in 2013 in the aftermath of Stewart’s fling with her Snow White and the Hunstman director Rupert Sanders. (Us Weekly published exclusive photos of their tryst in July 2012.) 

Pattinson and twigs began dating in September 2014 and were confirmed to be engaged this past April.
