Now that's some real talk! Rose McGowan appeared on Watch What Happens Live on Thursday, June 25, where she dished details on her high-profile engagement with rocker Marilyn Manson, which ended in 2001 over "lifestyle differences."
The actress, 41, dished exactly what the ending factor was to Andy Cohen. "Scarface," McGowan replied, referencing the 1932 and 1983 crime movies, which featured hard drug use. "Think about it Andy... What was Scarface about?"
"Coke," Cohen muttered. "He did too much blow and you were not down for it."
"It was me, it was me," McGowan replied. "Actually, I don't know. I plead the Fourth [instead of Fifth]... I'm honest, always, I can't help it." (McGowan and Manson were engaged for two years until they split in 2001. In a statement, the actress famously noted: "There is great love, but our lifestyle difference is, unfortunately, even greater." Following their breakup, she went on to marry Davey Detail in October 2013, while Manson, 46, subsequently romanced Evan Rachel Wood and Dita Von Teese.)
Their former romance, however, still garners much curiosity. McGowan was asked by another caller on Thursday about the highlights and lows of dating the rocker.
"Best and worst thing?" she reflected. "Probably, the bomb threats sucked... that just gets boring after awhile. I'm like, 'Really? Again?'" (The Pale Emperor's shows notoriously receive bomb threats, resulting in frequent cancellations.)
There was, however, an upside to their torrid romance. "The best?" McGowan speculated on WWHL. "Fun! People are like, 'uhhh.' And I'm like, 'Shut up, it's a rock star, you idiots!'"
McGowan brought up cocaine again, after she was asked whether there would be a reunion for her smash WB series, Charmed, which aired from 1998 to 2006. "I hope we're all drunk and high on coke," she joked of her costars Alyssa Milano and Holly Marie Combs. "Maybe!" (McGowan replaced series lead Shannen Doherty, after she was killed off in the Season 3 finale.)
"But, you know what?" she remarked. "Witchcraft is kind of awesome and I had the best power. So I hope so. Sure... I had a power called orbing and I could say, 'Paris!' and we would be in Paris. Every time I'm on a plane, I actually sit and fantasize about my power."
McGowan also made headlines this week after being fired by her acting agent for speaking out against Adam Sandler and sexism in Hollywood.
"I got a script," the actress explained on the show, "and it said, 'Please read the script so you understand the context of the theme.' And then, it encouraged cleavage, in parentheses, 'Push-up bras encouraged.'"
Still, the star doesn't blame Sandler. "It's just institutionalized stupidity," she concluded.
