Two years after her split from her longtime girlfriend, Rosie O'Donnell is still adjusting to being alone.
"I'm not [enjoying the single life]," O'Donnell, 47, told Usmagazine.com at Rosie's Broadway Extravaganza in NYC on Monday. "But on we grow, so to speak."
The comedienne and Kelli Carpenter, 42, wed in 2004, but earlier this month she revealed that Carpenter moved out two years ago. She had said they kept it a secret for the sake of their children -- son Parker, 14, Chelsea, 12, Blake, 9, and Vivienne, 6.
Still, she's gotten some help in dealing with the separation.
"My little dog, Missy, is great," she told Us of the pet she "got" in the split. "I love animals. I think they are really important to people to connect to somebody."
O'Donnell, who hosted the annual event -- a fundraiser for her arts education organization -- was accompanied by Parker and her close friend and fellow stand-up comic Judy Gold.
"She seems great," Gold said of O'Donnell post-split. "She seems happy, she seems grounded."
