Rosie O’Donnell was so taken aback by her unexpected encounter with Ivanka Trump that she wrote a poem about the experience. The comedian, 54, posted her work, titled “8 Million to One,” a reference to the population of NYC, on her website Rosie.com on Thursday, October 6. O’Donnell initially revealed via Twitter that the two women met at celeb-beloved eatery Nobu in Manhattan on Wednesday. In her poem, O’Donnell explained that she noticed the businesswoman, 34, and her husband, Jared Kushner, sitting together, but initially had no idea that it was Donald’s eldest daughter.
The League of Their Own actress wanted to slip out unnoticed but ultimately decided to introduce herself. O’Donnell wrote that she was “stunned” and “was captivated by her beauty.” O’Donnell told her about her five children, “truths” about herself and her “pain and shame.” O’Donnell had a “shaky, quiet voice,” but Ivanka was “absurdly kind.”
O’Donnell, of course, has had a decadelong feud with the GOP presidential candidate, 70. The battle started during The View in 2006, when O’Donnell criticized Donald for not firing Miss USA Tara Conner over her past indiscretions. He later bashed her for being a loser.
Last year, Donald continued the feud when he called O’Donnell a “fat pig” during a debate. Late last month, he defended his controversial remarks during his first presidential debate with Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
“Somebody who has been very vicious to me — Rosie O’Donnell — I said very tough things to her, and I think everybody would agree that she deserves it and nobody feels sorry for her,” he said at Hofstra University, in Hempstead, New York, on September 26. O’Donnell tweeted afterward that “he will never be president,” calling him an “orange anus” for good measure. This week, vice presidential candidates Senator Tim Kaine and Governor Mike Pence also duked it out.
On Thursday, O’Donnell hinted that the presidential election has taken a toll on her. She revealed that it was the first time she has been out since the debate (not clarifying which one) and that “depression clings to her.”
