Modern family! Ryan Phillippe couldn't be more pleased with his current relationship with ex wife Reese Witherspoon. During an interview with HuffPost Live, the actor said he's "proud" of how they've learned to co-parent their kids Ava, 15, and Deacon, 10.
"It's a feeling out process," Phillippe said of how he and Witherspoon are able to amicably raise their kids. "I think we've gotten to a really great place … It's going well, and she's happy and remarried, and our kids are incredible. I'm proud of the way we've handled it and who our little people are," the dad gushed.
The ex spouses, who divorced after seven years of marriage in 2006, still make time to spend as a family together, Phillippe added. "She was just in New York doing press for Gone Girl and Wild and we got to meet up as a family and took a walk through Central Park with the kids, and it was funny — we were reminiscing then because we shot a lot of Cruel Intentions [there], so there we were with Ava and Deacon talking, and they were tripping out on the fact that we were there shooting a movie before they were even a thought in our minds," Phillippe said of the 1999 film he starred in alongside his then girlfriend.
Witherspoon, for her part, gave her ex a shout-out on Instagram last month, posting a throwback picture from the flick with the caption: "Ahh the 90's…#Cruelintentions #TBT."
Following their divorce, Witherspoon went on to marry current husband Jim Toth in 2011. Phillippe has been dating girlfriend Paulina Slagter since 2012.
