Sage the Gemini Suggests That His Relationship With Jordin Sparks Was a Publicity Stunt at First

But really, why is love like a battlefield? Sage the Gemini claimed in a leaked phone conversation with his ex-fiancee, Curium Hurley, that his relationship with Jordin Sparks was supposedly a publicity stunt.

The conversation, which was leaked by Hurley on Monday, February 22, via YouTube, kicks off with the rapper (Dominic Wynn Woods) airing his grievances about the American Idol winner to his former fiancée.

"Everything was f–kin' horrible," he says in the audio. "That s–t was f–king dumb. She got on my nerves. I wanted to stab her. All of that s–t. Don't get me wrong, she's cool, she's level-headed, whatever, but she's not no regular person . . . Everybody on the outside looking in [thinks] it's hella perfect."

He also tells his ex how his manager initially posted several photos of him with Sparks on Instagram to "stir s–t up" ahead of Gemini's upcoming album last spring. Gemini says he was scolded for removing a photo with Sparks from his social platform. "My manager was like, 'No, bring it back. How the hell are you going to sell the album?'" he recalls in the phone convo.

Eventually, though, his relationship with Sparks, which supposedly started as a PR stunt, formed into something deeper.

Sage, 23, and Sparks, 26, first started dating in April 2015, about six months after the "Battlefield" singer split from her longtime boyfriend, Jason Derulo. In the interim, things seemed solid; Sparks even told Us Weekly in an exclusive interview that she accepted everything about Sage, including his Zodiac sign.

"He's actually a Gemini-Cancer cusp, which is crazy because I am a Sagittarius-Capricorn cusp. So he's summer solstice, I'm winter solstice. But you know that whole multiple personality thing? So him," she told Us. "But I love all of him. So that's the good thing."

Us Weekly exclusively revealed earlier this month that the pair called it quits after 10 months of dating, and it seemed as if the split was anything but amicable. Both parties have deleted photos of each other from their social-media accounts.

Despite the ugly fallout, it seemed as if Sage missed his lady. In a lengthy, now-deleted Instagram post last week, the rapper wrote that he wanted Sparks to take him back. "I miss you to much," Gemini captioned a photo of himself with the "Tattoo" singer. "To watch you look so amazing at the [Clive] Davis [pre-Grammys] party and not be able to call you and express how much I appreciated the look because you won’t answer nor text back," he continued. "The feeling is horrible."

Sparks' rep declined to comment on the audio.
