Haley Dunphy may constantly claim she’s prettier than her younger sister Alex on Modern Family, but actress Sarah Hyland isn’t quite as confident when it comes to showing off her body on live television. The ABC sitcom star, 23, is hosting the 2014 Teen Choice Awards on Sunday, Aug. 10 with Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey, and admitted to Us Weekly that she’s a little unsure of the potential costume choices.
“I think we're going to do some fun bits maybe some vaudeville singing and dancing stuff,” she revealed to Us. “I think they wanted to do some beach wear stuff. I think girls would really like to see Tyler without a shirt on. I'm not sure if it would be the best idea for me to be in a swimsuit on national television live so maybe I’ll just be in a parka while he's in a swimsuit.”
The funny woman joked that the makeup department should “Dance Mom my abs,” referencing the young girls on the Lifetime show who spray on fake ab lines.
But Hyland isn’t too stressed about her hosting gig. Mostly she’s looking forward to seeing some of the show’s musical acts.
“I’m really excited to see Magic!,” she said. “I first heard ‘Rude’ when I was in Australia filming a Modern Family episode. I love their music, and I'm excited to see Jason Derulo. I've seen him perform ‘Wiggle’ live two times now, but I love it. Not gonna lie, guilty pleasure. Love the ‘Wiggle.’”
Though she’s devoted to her hosting gig, Hyland is also focused on filming the new season of Modern Family, which started this week.
“It's summertime, there are butterflies and fun times to be had,” she teased of the first episode. “Mitchell and Cam are back from their honeymoon, and Andy is not back for the first episode, which I'm kind of upset about.”
Haley finally connected with love interest Andy (played by Pitch Perfect’s Adam DeVine) in the show’s season 5 finale.
